Why Can't I Inspect Skins in CS2 Blog Thumbnail

The Karambit Blue Gem is the skin that stands at the absolute top of the CS2 world with prices reaching up to $2 million (Pattern 387) due to insane rarity. As of June 2025, fewer than 50 Blue Gem Karambits exist in the world, driving its price to unseen levels in CSGO history.

The price is driven by how blue the specific skin's in-game visible side is. With over 370 different patterns available, only 12 out of 370 are considered blue enough to be "blue gems".

Why is it so expensive?

The main reason behind the price is mainly because of how rare it is to obtain a full blue color on a Case Hardened. With only 13 patterns considered blue gems out of 370, when you open a Case, you have a 1 in 617k chance to get a Blue Gem Pattern and 1 in 131 million to get the best pattern (#387) in Factory New condition.

Chinese Community Impact

Around 2017-2019, wealthy chinese traders and collectors entered the CS:GO market heavily. They were especially drawn to visually clean rare patterns such as the full blue design of blue gem Case Hardened patterns (In chinese culture, blue and gold also represent luck and wealth). This resulted in prices skyrocketing. A full blue karambit on the playside became the ultimate flex and was considered aesthetically perfect.

Nevertheless, not every Blue Gem is very expensive. The seed pattern determines how much of the blade is covered in blue and largely determines the rarity and value of the type. The following grouping by tier is a list of common seed patterns frequently known to collectors:

Tier 1 442, 269, 321, 73, 955, 853, 902, 507, 776

What Really Drives the Price of Blue Gems?

1) Pattern Tier:

That is the basis of value. A Factory New Tier 1 Pattern 387 will sell for prices that are up there with fancy cars. In the meantime, Tier 4 Blue Gems provide a cheaper place to start, in which those seeking the iconic style can find their place without having to go bankrupt.

2) Float Value (Wear Condition)

Float measures how pristine or worn a skin appears. It ranges from flawless to heavily scratched:

Factory New (FN) : Mirror-like, pristine finish (float 0.00–0.07)

Minimal Wear (MW) : Slight signs of use (float 0.07–0.15)

Field-Tested (FT) : Noticeable wear and scratches (float 0.15–0.38)

Even the rarest pattern loses value if it’s heavily worn. Always check the float before making a purchase.

Market Demand

The CS2 skin market is alive, which affects the collection of new players, coin hoards, and investors. Higher-end Blue Gems, such as Tier 1, tend to increase in value at least over time since they are rarer and often sought after, whereas lower-end show more fluctuation with modes and supply. Keeping in touch with community forums and markets can help identify the most favorable purchase options.

There's also less expensive "Gold Gem" Karambits, which are Case Hardened Skins with a full yellow pattern

Can You Actually Find One?

Good luck with it, because even the odds of getting at least a tier 2 are 1 in hundreds of thousands. Some players have spent hundreds or thousands of dollars buying cases and have never gotten one. In case you decide you want and have to have a Blue Gem in your collection, the smartest way to go is to follow the market and find reputable dealers like Skinflow and be prepared not just to spend money, but also time.

Karambit Case Hardened Blue Gem is not a mere skin; it is a legend, a trophy, and a demonstration of the excitement of doing the CS2 collections.
