Ever since cases have been introduced to CSGO (CS2) in 2013, they have been a major aspect of the CSGO experience by allowing users to customize their weapon appearances. When opened with a key, they provide customizable weapon skins that allow different cosmetic appearances in the game. With more than 30 cases in the game, we will be going over how to acquire these cases through the game as well as through marketplaces.
The easiest way to earn a case is by playing CSGO matches and leveling up your account level (not your competitive rank). When leveled up, the game will prompt a weekly care package at the end of the game that will allow you to choose a reward out of 4 different items. It is also almost always better to take the case as it has the best monetary value. Note that this is only available once a week and leveling up further within the week of receiving your reward won’t prompt another weekly care package.
Another way of acquiring as many CSGO cases as wanted is to buy them from the official Steam market place with Steam balance. You can do so by going over to the community tab on the steam app and selecting the market tab and filtering by cases. Note that Valve will take a 12 % cut of all trades on the steam market so third party CSGO markets will often offer lower prices for these cases (We only encourage you to trade within the steam rules).
To open cases, you will need to acquire a non-tradable key item (old keys can be tradable but always buy the keys from inside CSGO for cheaper) that costs 2.5 $ USD. You can then click on the open container from inside CSGO and use the key you have acquired to roll a chance for a rare item.
In conclusion, although CSGO cases aren’t a profitable way to spend your money, they can be opened for fun through acquiring them by playing the game or getting them from CSGO marketplaces
