CSGO Skins do not wear out, in fact, they are stuck with the same wear float value they are assigned to when they get opened from a case. But what exactly are wear float values?
Each CSGO Skin has a wear value, a float which ranges from 0 to 1 determining the “quality” of the design on the skin (0 being perfect and 1 being completely worn out). This wear value is assigned when the skin is unboxed and a condition name comes with the skins depending on which range of float values the wear falls inside of.
The Range in which the skin falls in also largely influences the price buyers are ready to buy them for. A skin can see its price 5x-10x if it’s in Factory New versus if it’s in Battle-Scarred condition. There is especially “overpay” on a skin if its price is on the inner edges of the condition range. For example, if a Minimal Wear condition of a skin usually sells for 10$, if there is a new Minimal Wear condition skin listed on the market with a float value of 0.07-0.08, which is especially close to 0.07, it could see its value go up to 12$-13$.
In conclusion, a skin cannot “wear out”, as its wear value will never change once it has been assigned. On a side note it is important to understand the condition wear float system as the float can influence the price at which buyers are offering for the skin.
